Missions Corner

Located in Miller Center, the Missions Corner collects items each month for a different local non-profit in need. You can find informaiton about this month’s mission in your bulletin or by subscribing to the church newsletter.

Rivera Elementary

We support the students, families, and staff of Rivera Elementary School by collecting school supplies, clothing, and food; helping with school events; and welcoming Rivera families to church community events. Adult volunteers as Rockin’ Readers (ages 55+), who read aloud to pre-K—3rd grade classes once a week our as mentors through Communities in Schools of North Texas. There are many ways to become involved in school-based mission!

First Meal

First Meal is our Sunday morning ministry that seeks to offer physical and spiritual nourishment to whoever walks through the doors. Hunger is a reality that too many persons in our community are familiar with. You can help by signing up to serve a hot meal, helping create community and build relationships, or donating money or complete pancake mix, pancake syrup, canned fruit, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, deodorant, shampoo and other personal hygiene items.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is a Christian organization that builds and repairs houses with the help of volunteers and donations. You can serve by volunteering to work on houses, offering meals, welcoming and signing-in volunteers, coordinating tools, making a monetary donation, or by becoming a family sponsor.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Prayer Shawl ministry brings love and care into the lives of so many people. Crocheters and knitters in our church are invited to make shawls, baby blankets, and lap robes. After completion, all of the handmade gifts are brought to the Prayer Shawl Ministry meeting on the first Wednesday of each month at 1:00 pm in Cole Chapel. At of the items are blessed by one of our pastors, then each one is wrapped and delivered to its recipient by a Stephen Minister.

Lenten Rebuild

Every year during the season of Lent, FUMC Denton strives to serve our community through an annual project called Lenten Rebuild. We find folks in our community in need of home repair through Hearts for Homes or through connections in our church family. You can help by picking up trash, cleaning, offer your construction expertise, or serving a meal to the work crew! Whatever your skill level, you are invited to serve.

Our Daily Bread

This weekday lunch program for the homeless and hungry is hosted at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. 200 people are served every day, Monday—Friday, providing a substantial lunch. You can help by signing up to serve or offering financial support.

Interfaith Ministries

Interfaith Ministries provides emergency financial assistance with rent and utility payments, prescriptions, school supplies, winter coats, eye care, and other needs to residents of north Denton County.

Angel Tree

Every year, we help fulfill the Christmas wishes and needs for 250 individuals who live in Denton or the surrounding areas. During the month of November, Angels will be available in Miller Center on Sundays.
