Alternative Gifts Fair

The Alternative Gifts Fair (AGF) offers the Denton community an alternative for their holiday shopping every year. It’s an opportunity for shoppers to purchase one-of-a-kind items with 100% of the proceeds going to missions and non-profits. Fair trade goods, handmade merchandise by third-world-country artisans, and merchandise donated by the Denton comunity make the fair an event not to be missed. You can serve by volunteering for the fair or donating unique items to be sold for a good cause!

Saratov UMC, Russia

FUMC Denton has a long-standing relationship with Saratov UMC in Russia by helping create and dliever children’s Godly Play Sets and making annual trips to support their pastor and congregation. The Saratov church has come a long way. They are currently self-sufficient and have a steady membership of about 30 and are recognized as one of the most successful Methodist churches in Russia. You can help create resources for children or by visiting in person!

ODIM Guatemala

Partnering with ODIM (Organization for the Development of the Indigenous Maya), we work together with the people of San Pablo and San Juan la Laguna to build structures, offer support to clinic and health education programs, and experience Mayan cultures. Be on the lookout for a mission trip opportunity to support and befriend the Indigenous people of San Pablo and San Juan!

Heifer International

Heifer's mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and to care for the earth by giving an animal to impoverished families. This is like giving someone a small business—providing wool, milk, eggs and more. Animal donations can provide families a hand up, increasing access to medicine, school, food and a sustainable livelihood. You can support Heifer by participating in the Alternative Gift Fair, the Read to Feed program for children, volunteering at Heifer Ranch with other folks from our community, or through your donations.

Red Bird Mission (RBM)

Red Bird Mission (RBM) is a mission of the United Methodist Church located in Beverly, Kentucky since 1921, when it’s Christian school began serving students in the Appalachian Mountain region of southeastern Kentucky. There is a community resale shop of donated goods that provides affordable clothes, shoes, housewares and furniture at reduced rates. FUMC Denton supports these artisans by selling their handmade wooden items, toys, jewelry, Christmas ornaments and household items at our Alternative Gifts Fair.
