A night for kids to play and parents to step away!

Parents can enjoy a night to themselves while the kids stay at the church for games, crafts, pizza and fun. Reservation for kids birth—5th grade is $20 each child with a $50 family max and includes pizza, snacks, crafts, and activities. Students 6th—12 grades can participate for free and help lead or participate in all activities. Register in advance at fumcdenton.com/events or pay at the door the night of.

The Trippers are heading out for a day full of bluebonnets!

Come join us as we meander the roads around Ennis to enjoy the bluebonnets. We will drive along the "Bluebonnet Trail" suggested by the Ennis Welcome Chamber. We will then have time to enjoy lunch in Ennis and take in the Bluebonnet Festival with all of it's crafts, food and entertainment.

We will depart from FUMC Denton by the back parking lot at 9am and should be returning around 4:30pm.

Cost: $60 per person in advance, which includes transportation and festival entry.

Join Glow and FUMC Denton’s Church & Society Committee for a LGBTQIA+ Inclusion 101 lecture series using Leigh Finke’s Welcoming and Affirming. The book centers on how churches can create spaces that welcome and affirm LGBTQIA+ community members, God’s beloved children. Each session will cover ideas from the book including how to talk to LGBTQIA+ persons, making sure spaces are safe and accessible, and how to work with LGBTQIA+ youth. This class is open to anyone who wishes to make our church a safer space for LGBTQIA+ adults and youth, especially those who are curious to learn more but are unsure of who to ask. The accompanying book is encouraged, but optional.

Our youth ministry has invited you to assemble meal kits! Anyone interested in participating is welcome. Our goal is to assemble 20,000 meals for Kids Against Hunger, who ships these meals to areas experiencing famine. With 50 people, we can assemble 20,000 meals in 1 1/2 hours. We'll set up Monroe for meal assembly, you just need to bring yourself. Bring enough supper for your family plus a little extra to share. We provide childcare for ages 0-5, but children are welcome to participate with parental supervision. Please RSVP so we know how many people we have.

A Resource Fair for queer and trans people around things that impact our lives, including name changes, gender marker changes, and other life/legal documents. Presentations from Grant Snyder and Lambda Legal will focus on legal concerns, while NAMI of North Texas will present on taking care of our mental health. This is an intentional safe space for our LGBTQIA+ only community to gather for real talk and to support each other. We’ll submit anonymous questions into a bucket and engage with them as a community. Pizza is provided! This Real Talk Y’all is open to anyone who is part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Located in the Wesley Foundation Center on the University of North Texas campus, the Shiloh Food Pantry serves food insecure students and neighbors near campus. Active students from any Denton campus and even those not currently in school are welcomed. The Shiloh Food Pantry serves predominantly international and immigrant students, so far helping over 300 households in 2024. You can also volunteer to serve at the pantry or to serve free lunch to students on Thursdays!

Throughout April, we will be collecting food & hygiene items for the Denton Wesley foundation's free Shiloh Food Pantry and resource room! The Denton Wesley serves the local community and students at UNT, TWU, & NCTC. Here's a list of needed items:

Despite what you may have heard, questions aren’t a challenge to our faith, they are the channel by which our faith grows deeper and stronger. Jesus asked his followers questions that inspired new thoughts, challenged old assumptions, and brought to life a view of the God who invites us to love with our heart, soul, and mind.

A free community training from Denton County MHMR Center focusing on Youth Mental Health First Aid for ages 12-18. Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among children and adolescents ages 12-18. 8 AM - 4 PM, Lunch break 12 - 1 PM. Everyone is welcome to a church-wide community dinner on the 1st Wednesday nights of every month at 6pm in Miller Center. Build deeper relationships in your church community and enjoy your dinner at the church. You can bring your own dinner, bring something to share with the community, or just come hungry—whatever works for you works for us! There are lots of folks already here on Wednesday nights coming to choir, handbells, meetings, studies, etc. Feel free to come and then disburse to other Wednesday night activities. This will be come & go, no pressure to arrive at a specific time or stay long. See you there!

We will be resuming the Community Bible Study in Miller Center on Wednesday, April 3rd as we continue our study of the Gospel of Mark. We will meet through the last week of May, breaking for summer, and then resume in the Fall on Wednesday, August 14th. This weekly study is led by pastors and church staff. Bring your lunch and come check us out!

Pub Theology is a group for folks with questions about God and life but they aren't ready to ask those questions in a Sunday School class. We meet at a local bar for a discussion-based group on various topics. Pub Theology leaders lead a mini presentation on the topic and what history, the Bible, and other theologians may have to say about it. Our questions examine the topics through the lens of the individual's life experiences in the group.

No one will call you heretical here. We believe listening to other's spiritual experiences and outlooks on life can help us better understand ourselves as humans. We believe reason, experience, faith, and tradition are all important and should shape our theology and discourse.

Come out for this Pub Theology series hosted at Miss Angeline’s at 7:30 pm on 1st Mondays for some intellectual discussion that engages the group ear to discuss, listen, and learn from one another's experience and journey. There are no wrong answers, unless it revolves around the oppression of others. NO homophobia, sexism, ageism, ableism, or racism. Hate does not aid in the spreading of God's love. Do no harm, first.

Join us on Easter Sunday for a joyous celebration of new life, renewal, and resurrection—God’s grace at work in our world and in us. The ancient call and response of the people bears witness to that grace: Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed! Together we celebrate our shared hope with glorious song, hopeful good news, and joyous life. Invite friends, strangers, neighbors, and families as we celebrate the powerful love of God in Christ! We’ll have opportunities for both in-person worship and online worship on this day.

FUMC Denton’s Missions Committee has chosen The Jerri Savuto Rescue Center for Girls, located in Kamariny village, Talai location in Kreel Marakwet, Kenya, as the recipient of the 2024 Easter Offering. Thank you for shining God’s love into the lives of these girls!

The Jerri Savuto Rescue Center for Girls is for girls who are escaping vulnerable and endangering situations in a remote area of Kenya. Over forty girls are living in the center and sixteen are attending secondary school. Your donations will help build a security fence around this new campus and provide food, clothing, and staff care for the girls.

Childcare will not be available for this event. 

On this evening, we will remember the story of Jesus’ sacred sacrifice of love made on the cross. In a service of song, scripture, and silence, we will reflect on the hardship of that day and the way darkness seemed to drown out the light. The solemnity of Good Friday is an important part of the rhythm of Holy Week. Because, even in this important, poignant experience, we look to the hope of Easter—that God’s life and love triumphed over the grave. In the midst of the pain and the loss of Good Friday is a profound paradox: what seemed final was simply not final. The grave is empty. Death has indeed lost its sting.

Join us for worship on Good Friday at Noon in Cole Chapel and 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary. You can also join us online for the 6:30 pm service here at fumcdenton.com/live or on Facebook. Our Good Friday worship this year will be a stations of the cross service. The choir will present Taylor Davis’ Return to Me, a new choral setting of the stations service accompanied by George D’Ascenzo on cello. Join us for this poignant service as we commemorate Christ’s death and prepare for the celebration of his Resurrection on Easter Morning. 

Join us for Maundy Thursday worship where we will commemorate Jesus’ last night with his disciples and gave them the mandate (mandatum in Latin which is shortened to “Maundy”) to love one another. The service will be in the form of a stations service where you will be invited to move through different spaces in the church with the opportunities to participate in communion, prayer, service, and song at your own pace. We will begin in the Sanctuary at 6:30pm. All are welcome!

We are collecting items to create assistance bags for our neighbors in need who come to the church looking for help. We will assemble these items in gallon ziplock bags as a church-wide activity on Maundy Thursday during Holy Week to be given out to anyone who may need them.

The Easter Bunny is coming to FUMC Denton on Sunday, March 24 from 12:15-2 pm. Bring the whole family for a fun Community Egg Hunt. This event is 100% free and open to the public. We’ll have an Egg Hunt, pancake brunch, pictures with the Easter Bunny, and games. You’re encouraged to bring a basket for each child but we will have bags on site for those who don’t have their own.
