Care

The foundation of a active-bodied, mission-minded, loving-hearted and spirited-soul church is a praying and caring congregation.

Prayer Ministry Team

“He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer.’” (Matthew 21:13)

The FUMC Denton Prayer Ministry offers several opportunities where you can serve the prayer needs of our church.

Prayers of the People

This group of persons (intercessors) have made a commitment to pray at least once a week for the needs of the church, its staff and ministries, and for prayer requests made during each Sunday’s worship services.

A request for prayer can be made during worship by filling out one of the prayer request cards found in the pews. The cards are collected, and the requests are lifted up in the pastoral prayer. The prayers are then added to the weekly intercessory prayer list (unless the request is marked confidential).

Prayer Request may also be made online through our Prayer Request form.

Crisis Prayer Team

This team was developed to address emergency needs. These intercessors commit to pray for the emergency situation as often as possible within the first 48 hours that the request is received. In the event of a crisis, you can call the church (940-382-5478) and speak to a pastor who will forward the request to members of the Crisis Prayer Team.

Meditative Prayer

The easiest way for us to talk and listen to the Holy Spirit, is to become centered. This means relaxing our bodies, stilling our minds, letting go of our emotions and listening actively. If you are seeking such a sacred place and time, please join us in Cole Chapel Wednesday evenings between the hours of 6:30 and 8:00 pm on most Wednesdays. On the first Wednesday of the month, the Chapel will be open for meditation and prayer following the 1st Wednesday Communion Service, 7:15-8:00 pm.
