On Sundays, between 9:30-10:30 am, adults connect during the adult learning hour in nineteen different Sunday School classes, which act as a place of continuing growth in grace and discipleship. At First UMC-Denton, Sunday School is a powerful connection that shapes our many lives. It provides a lens to read culture, offers a Biblical perspective on contemporary issues and sparks critical thinking for the purpose of individual nurture and the Church’s sustenance.

Choose a class that best fits you. Ask these questions:

• Does this class offer the direction I appreciate for short or long term study?
• Can I contribute to the growth of this class?

Bible study class of various ages, both singles and couples, who seek to answer the questions of:
What does the Bible say?What does the passage mean?How does the Scripture relate to my life? Come help us answer these questions.

Adults, couples and singles, 55+, gather for hymn singing and Bible study led by experienced teachers. Lessons are based on the Adult Bible Studies Series.
The class also holds regular social events.

Expand your connection to the faith in this new, progressive group, the only adult class meeting during the 11:00 am hour on Sunday mornings.
Discussions include Bible study and life relationships.

This class focuses its study on one of the hymns from the Sunday worship service each week. We examine the theological themes, scriptural references and overall message of each hymn as well as its history, author, and musical setting. All are welcome; you don't need to be a musician or have any musical background at all to enjoy this energetic, discussion based class.

Class for couples and single parents with young children, who study the Bible as it applies to daily life. The class is discussion and book oriented study.

ADULTS 24-39 Ready to Share in the Journey Dust off the Bible as we dive in together, tackling scripture and the success and struggles of daily life. People from all backgrounds, enjoying great discussions and challenge each other with in-depth and stimulating questions. Journey is an honest and open group, wishing to share the wealth of combined experiences and study to make the Journey just a little easier. Weekly and month socials.

A mixture of singles and married adults, mid 30's - 60's, discussing a wide variety of spiritual, social, political, and personal issues in a loosely structured, relaxed environment. Class study is based on lectures, books, and guest speakers.

An intergenerational class that focuses on applying the Wesleyan Quadrilateral (Scripture, tradition, experience and reason) to current events and social concerns to discover how we can be more faithful and active Christians in the 21st century society.

Adult class for those who enjoy singing hymns and hearing the word of God form the Adult Bible Study series taught by class members or guest speakers. A variety of additional activities include eating out monthly, holiday get-togethers and an annual retreat.

Single adults, 35+ who have never married, are widowed or divorced. Class studies and discussions that apply to living a spiritual single life. Regular guest speakers of various topics, plus social and cultural events.

University and young adults meet after the 11:00 am worship service for lunch and study at the home of Dave and Allyson Gardner.

This class uses the United Methodist Adult Bible Studies series as curriculum and discuss the integration of Scripture and contemporary issues.
